Stacey Fletcher

As a cathartic painter, I embrace the challenges presented in life into my art. I am slowly learning the lessons in vulnerability and the need to challenge myself as a creator. Concepts of vulnerability is what fuel my passion to create.

My work seeks to display a language based on the process of intuitive mark making. This language creates a surface struggling between what we do not see and that which is seen directly. It involves layering various materials, including acrylics, spray paint, oil sticks, and dry drawing materials with energetic marks, bold colors, and rich textures that serve as an abstract visual reference to a range of life experiences. My infatuation with abstract and tangible spaces is what drives my work; it motivates each of my ideas, creating forms that become an abstraction of those ideas. The state of these fluid works is actively "unfinished,” thus exposing the visual process to its audience creating a sense of contemplation for their own ideas, experiences, struggles, and triumphs.

Layering thoughts, memories, and ideas with sensual materials, motivates the paintings and displays the evolution of the mark. Life is a spectrum of different experiences and unpredictability, and I will embrace all the above.
